Safety & operations

How helicopter flying works in the Khumbu — and how to fly safely.

Licensed operators

We work with operators licensed and audited by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). Safety decisions — including whether a flight departs — always rest with the pilot and operator.

Flying at altitude

  • Helicopters can reach high villages in minutes, skipping the slow acclimatisation of trekking.
  • Altitude sickness can develop quickly. Know the symptoms: headache, nausea, dizziness, breathlessness.
  • If you feel unwell at altitude, descend and tell your guide or us immediately.

Baggage & weight

Helicopter payload drops with altitude and temperature. Most flights allow up to 15 kg per passenger; the Base Camp tour allows 5 kg. Pack light, and tell us about heavy equipment in advance.

Emergency rescue

We coordinate emergency rescue and medical evacuation around the clock with our operators. Make sure your travel insurance explicitly covers helicopter evacuation at altitude.

In an emergency call or WhatsApp +977-9851014405 straight away.

Traveller feedback

What our passengers say

We only publish reviews written by real passengers.

“The team organised our Lukla flight perfectly… had us on the helicopter within 30 minutes. Exceptional service.”
